Fatal Risk Category: Exclusion Trap • Edition: ISO Standard Exclusion

CG 21 42 / CG 21 43 — Exclusion - Explosion, Collapse and Underground Hazards (XCU)

Eliminates coverage for damage caused by blasting (Explosion), structural collapse during grading/shoring (Collapse), or striking underground utilities/gas pipes (Underground).

⚠️ The Underwriting Trap

Excavation, grading, utility, and concrete subs must have XCU coverage. If an excavator strikes an underground fiber trunk or gas line without XCU, the multimillion-dollar utility bill falls directly onto the GC.

✅ General Contractor Remedy

Verify XCU exclusions are strictly removed (deleted) on policies for site-work, grading, demolition, and foundation trades.

Standard ISO Policy Wording

This insurance does not apply to: Property damage included within the 'explosion hazard', 'collapse hazard', or 'underground property damage hazard'.
